Quick Itinerary: Manaus - Anavilhanas Jungle Lodge - Sao Paulo
8 Days / 7 Nights
Arrival and transfer directly to your hotel in Manaus, the Hotel Juma Opera Manaus is the Gateway to the Amazon rainforest in Brazil. If arriving early enough, you may be able to transfer to the Amazon lodge on the same day.
Day 2. MANAUS - ANAVILHANAS JUNGLE LODGE (All meals)
After breakfast, transfer to the Anavilhanas Jungle lodge -
A small and fashionable Jungle Hotel across from Anavilhanas National Park, on the margins of Rio Negro (Negro River) and 180 kilometers (112 miles) outside of Manaus. The journey will take about 4 hours. Anavilhanas Jungle Lodge is the only Hotel in Northern Brazil to be part of the Associação de Roteiros de Charme (Charm Itinerary Association).
After check-in and lunch, guests will departure in wooden canoes to explore the Igapós and Igarapés nearby the lodge, where it will be possible to enjoy the vivid wildlife, with a stop for recreational piranha fishing. Return to the lodge and dinner.
After breakfast, guests will depart for a hike through the unstirred forest, toured by local guides who will reveal some of the mysteries of the Amazon Jungle. Knowledge about trees, herbs and fruits, jungle survival orientation and natural medicine notions will be transferred. Return to the Lodge and lunch. During the afternoon, guests will embark on canoes through the archipelago watercourses, lakes, and islands, in search of the wild river dolphins. Return to the lodge. After dinner, guests will embark on motorized canoes to search for nocturnal animals such as the caiman, an Amazonian alligator.
Day 4. ANAVILHANAS JUNGLE LODGE (All meals)After breakfast, guests will leave to visit an isolated community in the middle of the Negro River and to learn more about their customs and social organization. Return to the lodge and lunch. During the afternoon, guests learn and practice archery with original bow and arrow from de indigenous Waimiri-Atroari, guests will also have a lecture about the indigenous lifestyle and customs. Return to the lodge and dinner.
Day 5. ANAVILHANAS JUNGLE LODGE (All meals)After breakfast, guests will depart in a regional boat along the Negro River for a full day experience. During the tour, guests will be able to explore the many watercourses, lakes, and islands from the region. Lunch will be served on board and guests will taste a typical grilled fish and, afterward, will be possible to rest in comfortable hammocks. By the dust, return to the lodge and dinner.
Day 6. ANAVILHANAS JUNGLE LODGE - SAO PAULO - PICINGUABA (Breakfast &dinner)
After breakfast, guests will depart in the early morning in motorized canoes in order to witness the colorful sky of the Amazonian dawn. Return to the lodge for breakfast, check-out and transfer out to Manaus airport for the flight to Sao Paulo. Arrival and private transfer to Pousada Picinguaba, about a 3 ½ hour drive and located close to the colonial town of Paraty. Located in an exceptional hideaway of considerable beauty, the tiny fishing village is set on the edge of unspoilt Atlantic rainforest beneath tropical mountain peaks. Here you will gaze across turquoise bays and out to velvet green islands. Vast expanses of open beaches extend fara way.
